Choices

Okay so choices.  They can be huge or small but they all affect what we do each day.  Our days are made up of a ton of small choices the choice to get out of bed, to eat something, to go to work, to obey traffic laws, to speak nicely to others, to pray and thank God for your day.  All those little things affect who we are today.  Yes I am saying that we are a product of all those seemingly small choices that we make each and every day. Elder James E. Faust gave a talk on choices, I love this line from it  'Tomorrow’s blessings and opportunities depend on the choices we make today.' 

I love this video about six youth that have made the choice to be sexually pure, as you watch it think about the choices they've made and how that choice has given them confidence in their lives. 

I challenge us all to make better choices every day.  Follow the mantra What Would Jesus Do? It always helps us make choices that will affect the rest of our lives and put us in a place that we feel confident in ourselves and in society.

a dime a dozen...or not

Some days I feel very ordinary.  Have you ever felt like that? That you are just like everyone else, or you have a routine life, or maybe just nothing in your life is particularly exciting... I am like that everyday. But I've come to realize that I am no ordinary person.  And neither are you! You are a child of God.  You have qualities that were divinely given you from your Father in Heaven.  One of my all time favorite things to do is to figure out what is that one that thing that makes a person extremely unique. It is quite fun, you should try it! Find out what makes that person so special. Sometimes I like to ask myself why is this person in my life at this time? What can I learn from them? Because I know that our Heavenly Father loves us and places people in our path when we need them.  And in learning this I have come to learn that I too am unique.  I too have things to do and peoples lives to bless.  I just need to figure out how... and sometimes that is not easy. So I dare you to be you today.  To be that person that no one else can replace.  Don't blend into the world, but stick out.  Show your divine qualities of kindness and chivelry, or maybe share some of your talents... no matter how uncool they may seem.  Heavenly Father made you for a reason. Be today that person He wants you to be!!

He is building a palace

Okay so this upcoming week is transfers... I always get really nervous at transfer time because transfers equal change... Everything that you know is changed if you get transferred.  All the people you see every day are replaced with new people. The home you live in is changed... yeah your whole life is different.  But change is good. It brings growth, new opportunities, and many new challenges. Change is good in every aspect of life... even in missionary work. I love this quote by C.S. Lewis, he's talking about how change can hurt sometimes, but God will always make us into something great:

“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently he starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of—throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace.”

I pray that we can let God mold our life and build us into the person He has planned for us.
