pillar of salt

I wanted to write a little today about a very small but significant scripture in Luke, Luke 17:32. It reads, 'Remember Lot's wife.' This scripture is referring to the story in the Old Testament when Lot is commanded by the Lord to leave Sodom and Gomorrah because of its wickedness.  Lot and his wife leave all that they owned behind.  In the story '...[Lot's]wife looked back from behind him and she became a pillar of salt' (Genesis 19:26) Earlier in the story before they leave The Lord tells Lot 'look not behind thee.'  The Lord is telling Lot to move on from the wickedness of that city.  And we too need to move on from the wickedness of our past.  I think that is a hard lesson to learn, hence why it was mentioned again by the Savior in the New testament.  Obviously Lot's wife still wanted and yearned to be in Sodom and Gomorrah despite the Fire and Brimstone falling from the sky.  It wasn't that she looked back merely from curiosity but,  she hadn't seen why it was so important to leave all that behind.  To allow complete forgiveness from our past mistakes we need to move forward and not look back.  That doesn't mean that we won't remember our mistakes and use them as learning experience.  But we need to have a desire to move forward not backwards.  We need to choose to follow the commandments of the Lord and look toward a future full of righteousness.  I really love this Mormon message, it is an interview with some people in a diner about the story of Lot's wife. I pray we can all look forward and start a new
